Dad is Great...

Both John and I remember a Bill Cosby routine in which the dad gives chocolate cake to his kids for breakfast (hey, it has eggs and milk in it, right?)
I made Chocolate Lava cake for dessert one night and we both broke into the song:  "Dad is great, he gives us chocolate cake...."

Abe ~ 5 months

Abe had his first ride in the swing today.  His initial reaction was to scream and cry but once he got used to it he loved it!

Carl loved pushing him.  We had to remind him over and over to push gently!

Here he is in his bouncy chair.  He doesn't bounce yet but he loves being in an upright position.

Over the past month he has gotten really squirmy!  He really likes to be on the floor so he can roll around and make crawling motions with his hands and feet.  He looks like he is swimming!
He also got his 2 bottom teeth.  I can't get a picture though - they are always hiding under his tongue.
His current nicknames are Abe Popadopolous (not sure where that came from) and Aber the Tomater.

Had to take a picture of this... Carl accidentally hit Abe in the head with a toy.  It couldn't have hurt too bad, but Abe howled & cried.  Carl felt so bad, he insisted on getting a band-aid for Abe even though it wasn't bleeding.  Carl went and found the bandaids and put one on Abe with very little assistance.  Cute!

Good Friends

Abe and I got to see Karen and Heather this weekend!  It was so fun to see them and catch up.

Congrats to Heather on her engagement!

North Dakota Road Trip

Sadly, John's grandma passed away this week.  The boys never got a chance to meet her but we went out to Belfield, ND for her funeral.  She was 96 years old and died peacefully in her sleep.  She was an amazing woman.  She had 16 children, 48 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren (plus 2 on the way) and 1 great-great grandchild.  What a legacy!  It was fun to see the small town where John's dad grew up.

Everyone buckled in for a long ride!  Actually it wasn't too bad - less than 6 hours.

We drove through Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

We found a really fun playground in the town of Medora.  The outside looked like an old west town.

The inside was an endless maze of things to climb on!

Moppets

I go to a Moms group in Detroit Lakes on Wednesdays called "MOPS" which stands for Mothers of Preschoolers.  While the Moms do their thing the kids go to a program called "Moppets."  Here is Carl with some of his Moppets friends.

Carl goes to the Rodeo

John took Carl to the rodeo at the fargodome last weekend.  Here is Carl waiting for it to get started!
